Sidmouth, an elegant Regency seaside town on Devon's Jurassic Coast, has a mix of period homes and modern ones. Since the town sits between striking red sandstone cliffs, its ground is unusual, and this affects drains.
The coastal ground here, with layers of sandstone and clay, can vary a lot within a small area. Seafront and lower-town homes may feel coastal water affect their drains. Homes on higher ground, meanwhile, deal with different drainage flow. Many of Sidmouth's older homes still have their first clay drainage pipes, which need specialist know-how to maintain.
Sidmouth's coastal spot and local ground can affect how drains behave, especially in storms. We check each property on its own and suggest fixes suited to local conditions, including non-return valves for homes at risk from tidal or storm effects.
We respond to Sidmouth fast from our Exeter base, with urgent jobs first in line.
